I’m having abnormal vaginal bleeding. I’m afraid it might be cervical cancer. How to diagnose cervical cancer?

The first step in the diagnosis of cervical cancer is screening tests, which include a Pap test and a HPV DNA test. A Pap test can detect abnormal cells in the cervix. In HPV DNA test, the doctor can find out whether you have human papillomavirus.
Once cervical cancer is suspected, your doctor will begin further examination in your cervix. He needs a sample of your cervical cells which is called biopsy for laboratory testing. To get the sample, the doctor can use punch biopsy or endocervical curettage.
To decide the stage of the cancer, you may experience a chest X-ray, a CT scan, an ultrasound, a MRI or a PET scan.
