A:
People with meningismus show symptoms as if they are infected with meningitis. However, there is no inflammation of their meninges.
Symptoms:
- Headache
- Increased spinal fluid pressure
- A stiff neck
- Dizziness
- Vomiting
Causes:
- Pneumonia
- Food poisoning
- Diabetes
- Uremia
- Influenza
- Measles
When you have meningitis, changes in spinal fluid can be detected. If you have meningismus, those changes are not found.
