Undulant fever is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria of the genus Brucella. So another name for the disease is Brucellosis.

Brucella are mostly transmitted among animals. People usually get a brucella infection when they come in contact with animals or animal products that are contaminated with Brucella.

If you get a Brucella infection, you’ll probably experience rising and falling fevers. That’s the reason why the disease is also called undulant fever.
