Food management matters in diabetes. You can start your self-management of diet in the following 6 aspects.
Whole grains, such as brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, millet, or amaranth is good for diabetes, as well as baked sweet potato.
2. Fruits & Vegetables
Fresh fruit with no or low sugar comes as the first choice. Fresh veggies such as kale, spinach, and arugula are recommended.
Plant-based proteins, such as beans, nuts, seeds, or tofu are good for diabetes. Besides, fish and seafood are healthy.
Diabetes should choose the 1% or skim milk. Low-fat yogurt also works.
5. Fats, Oils, and Sweets
Nuts, seeds, or avocados are good natural sources of vegetable fats. Canola, grapeseed, or olive oils are better than other oils.
Unflavored water is the best. You can also try some unsweetened tea, light beer, or non-fruity mixed drinks.
