Skin damage from trauma and disease in the head causes the scar area on the head. The hair follicle in the scar area cannot grow naturally, and the growth of the hair in the scar area is also affected. Scarring alopecia is mainly caused by the necrosis of the hair follicle in the scar area.

Other parts that are unable to grow hair due to scars are also collectively referred to as scarring alopecia.
