What is renal colic?
Renal colic is a syndrome characterized by severe pain commonly caused by kidney stones. The stones may block the flow of urine and can cause pain if they travel down the tubes of the urinary tract.
Symptoms of renal colic include bloody urine, abnormally colored urine, pain in the back, side or groin, chills, fever, and nausea with or without vomiting, etc.
Renal colic may arise because of surgeries, genetics, certain dietary factors, bowel diseases, cystinuria, etc.
Based on different types and sizes of the stones, treatments for renal colic are different too. But the common measures include pain relievers and surgeries.
