What is pseudopheochromocytoma?

Pseudopheochromocytoma, also known as paroxysmal hypertension, is episodic high blood pressure. This type of high blood pressure may be due to some sort of stress or from pheochromocytoma. The latter refers to a type of tumor in the adrenal medulla.

Generally, when patients with paroxysmal hypertension have a negative test for pheochromocytoma, then we think these people are suffering from pseudophaechromocytoma.

The causes behind the pseudopheochromocytoma remain unknown. And its treatment is not only difficult but may also incur chronic disability.
