What Is Kidney Cancer Bone Metastasis?

What is kidney cancer bone metastasis?

Cancer cells of kidney cancer can spread to other parts of the body, such as lymph nodes, organs like the lungs and liver, and to the bones, which is called metastasis. The bones are the second most common site for kidney cancer cells to spread to, following the lungs (45%). If kidney cancer cells spread to the bones, kidney cancer bone metastasis, also known as bone mets, occurs.

Common symptoms of kidney cancer bone metastasis include pain, bone fracture, spinal cord compression and high calcium levels (hypercalcemia). However, it can also be detected by imaging.

Patients with kidney cancer bone metastasis can be treated by surgical treatment, immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
