What is eyelid dermatitis?

Eyelid dermatitis is a common condition that makes the skin on or around the eyelid become dry, itchy and irritated.

Common forms of eyelid dermatitis include:

  • Allergic contact dermatitis. An allergic reaction that causes inflammation.
  • Irritant contact dermatitis. Eyelids contact with a substance that damages the outer layer of the skin.
  • Atopic contact dermatitis. A form of eczema.
  • Seborrheic dermatitis. A common condition that causes the skin to be inflamed.

Eyelid dermatitis has following symptoms:

  • Itching.
  • Swelling.
  • Pain or burning feeling.
  • Red rash.
  • Scaly, irritated skin.
  • Thickened, creased skin.
