What is cystic acne?

Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. It is not common. Pores in the skin become blocked, as the result of which infection and inflammation happen. The main reason of it is hormonal changes in puberty, but it can also occur in people of all ages.

People with cystic acne may have following symptoms:

  • Small and deep pits.
  • Large pits.
  • Shallow depressions in the skin.
  • Red and raised scar.

All symptoms of cystic acne are more visible than those of common acne.

If you have cystic acne, you had better find a dermatologist specializing in treating cystic acne. Although cystic acne may not have physical damage, it can hurt one’s appearance and even self-esteem. Meanwhile, you shall not be overreacted because too much stress can make your acne even worse.
