My dad may need a coronary artery bypass graft surgery. We are still considering it. So what exactly is it?
A:
CABG, is short for coronary artery bypass graft, which helps improve blood flow to the heart. It is one treatment for CHD (coronary heart disease).

Put simply, the surgery helps you connect a healthy artery or vein from your body to the blocked one.  Namely, the grafted artery or vein bypasses the blocked coronary artery, creating a new path for bringing oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle.
