Butterfly glioblastoma, also known as butterfly glioma, is a high-grade astrocytoma. The term butterfly refers to the symmetric wing-like extensions across the midline. Butterfly gliomas often occur in the frontal lobes, crossing via the genu of the corpus callosum, however there are also some posterior butterflies.
Diagnosis of butterfly glioblastoma include:
- Tumefactive demyelination
- Cerebral toxoplasmosis
- Primary CNS lymphoma
- Cerebral metastases
