What is Blood Test for Allergy Treatment?

In relieving allergy symptoms, it’s important to find out the allergy triggers and avoid them as long as possible. Blood test is one of the ways to identify the potential allergy triggers for each individual.

Specific IgE (sIgE) blood testing, commonly called radioallergosorbent test (RAST) or ImmunoCAP testing, measures the amount of allergy-causing antibodies in your bloodstream, known as immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. A blood sample is sent to a medical laboratory, where it can be tested for evidence of sensitivity to possible allergens.

Another way to find possible allergens is skin test. Skin test is sensitive and less expensive, but not tolerable for some people. In such cases, blood test will be an alternative.
