What is bilateral pleural effusion?

Pleural effusion refers to an unusual amount of fluid exists around the lungs. A great number of factors can cause pleural effusion, including cancer, infections, leaking from other organs, autoimmune conditions and pulmonary embolism.

If both the left and right part of lungs are surrounded by excess fluid, that called bilateral pleural effusion.
