An abnormal growth on the skin is called a skin lesion. There are two types of skin lesion. They are primary skin lesion and secondary skin lesion.
If a skin lesion is there when you were born or doesn’t go away for the rest of your life, it’s called a primary skin lesion.
A secondary skin lesion forms after you get skin irritation.
Causes of skin lesions include:
- Herpes simplex
- Cold sore
- Acne
- Impetigo
- Actinic keratosis
- Allergic eczema
