PTSD means post-traumatic stress disorder, once also called shell shock or battle fatigue syndrome. PTSD may occur when a person have experienced or witnessed a traumatic, terrifying event.

The events may include war, the unexpected death of a loved one, accident, sexual assault, natural disaster and so on.

The symptoms of PTSD may consist of lasting helplessness, horror, or intense fear, nightmares, flashbacks, severe anxiety etc.

It is normal for ordinary people to feel nervous, angry, shocked or guilty sometimes, but for people with PTSD, these feelings continue and even increase, thus affecting their normal life.
