Strep throat is an inflammation of the throat which may lead to pain or scratchy sensation in your throat, swollen and red tonsils, or hoarse voice. It may also cause a fever, a cough, headache or a runny nose.
Generally, strep throat is caused by bacteria, and the most common one is streptococcus pyogenes or group A streptococcus.
You doctor may prescribe antibiotics for you if you get a strep throat. And you need to take the full course of the medicine even your symptoms have disappeared.
