What are papules?

A:
Papules are small and reddish bumps on the skin. Their diameter is less than 1 cm. There are various causes of papules, including but not limited to:

  • dermatitis
  • chickenpox
  • eczema
  • cutaneous candidiasis
  • allergy to medications
  • insects biting

In most cases, you can treat the papules at home by:

  • Keeping the skin moisture.
  • Removing make-ups that irritate the skin.
  • Stopping using lotions to see if they irritate the skin.
  • Bathing in warm water and avoiding using shampoo or body wash.

Most importantly, stop scratching the skin if it itches.

If the above home treatments do not work, ask the doctor for medical treatments.
