Right-sided Heart Failure VS. Left-sided Heart Failure?

Q:
Can you tell me the differences betweeen right-sided and left-sided heart failure?

A:
Left-sided heart failure happens when the left ventricle is larger and pumps more of the heart’s blood.

Right-sided heart failure usually happens after the left side fails. More fluid pressure through the lungs damages the right side of your heart.

Left-sided heart failure may bring fluid back up in your lungs, causing shortness of breath; while right-sided heart failure may bring fluid back up into your abdomen, legs and feet, causing swelling.
