Prurigo Nodularis: Definition & Treatments

Prurigo noularis, also known as nodular prurigo, is an uncommon skin disease, which is characterized by itchy nodules appearing on arms or legs. Severe, unbearable itching is the major feature in patients with the disorder.

The exact cause of prurigo nodularis is still unknown. But autoimmune or genetic factors seem to contribute to its development. Other potential causes may include:

  • Kidney failure
  • Anemia
  • Metabolic disease
  • HIV infections
  • Psoriasis
  • Lichen planus

Prurigo nodularis is usually hard to be cured. Common treatments for it may be listed as follows:
