Loss of Bladder Control in Two Types

Urinary incontinence can be caused by many daily habits. Sometimes, it is just temporary symptom instead of long-term disease. When is which? Here we introduce you the main two types of urinary incontinences.

1.Temporary urinary incontinence

We are familiar with diuretics in our daily life such as caffeine, alcohol, chocolate. Do you have the feeling of urine after eating and drinking them? How do those common diuretics work? To put it simply, they stimulate your bladder, increasing urine. These diuretics also include:
• Carbonated drinks and sparkling water
• Artificial sweeteners
• Chili peppers
• Foods that are high in spice, sugar or acid, especially citrus fruits
• Heart and blood pressure medications, sedatives, and muscle relaxants
• Large doses of vitamin C

In addition, urinary incontinence occurs after simple medical conditions in daily life, such as urinary tract infection, and constipation.

2.Long-term urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence can last for a long time under special physical problems or changes. The following five are typical.

1. Pregnancy
Being a mummy brings changes on both hormone and weight. This sweet burden exerts extra pressure on your bladder, leading to stress incontinence. It’s natural that pregnant women go to the toilet for more times than general women. Besides, if the baby is delivered by vagina, the mommy has to stand weaken vaginal muscles related to bladder control, thus making urinary leak.

2. Aging
Bladder itself has an aging process, leading to a weaker capacity to store urine. When you get older, your bladder will contract unconsciously in a more frequent way. The elderly is not that much able to control their urinary process.

3. Hysterectomy
For women, the bladder and uterus share many muscles and ligaments. Any removal of the uterus can affect the bladder’s function, usually leading to incontinence.

4. Prostate Problems
For older men, prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer often cause incontinence.

5. Neurological disorders
Urinary incontinence results from many neurological disorders out of multiple sclerosis, Parkinson, stroke or a spinal injury.
