How to treat Mondor’s disease?

Mondor’s disease is a rare condition which involves thrombophlebitis of the superficial veins of the breast and anterior chest wall. It sometimes occurs in the arm or penis.

Patients with this disease may have abrupt onset of superficial pain, with the swelling and redness of a limited area of their anterior chest wall or breast.

Mondor’s disease is self-limiting and generally benign. Common treatment methods may include:

  • Warm compress
  • Pain relievers: NSAIDS such as ibuprofen are the most commonly used pain reliever.
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs: These drugs include aspirin and indomethacin, which are used to help alleviate the symptoms.
  • Acetaminophen
  • Arimidex
  • Advil
