How long can we get rid of scabies?
To keep healthy, no one wants to get the scabies, however, there are a lot of situations that we may involve in this disease. Scabies tends to spread in very crowded areas, where people have a lot of skin-to-skin contact that happens over a long time. You usually can’t get scabies from quick touching, like a handshake or a hug.
If unfortunately you really get the scabies, to get cured, please follow the steps:
- Take medicine in the hospital
If you have scabies, your doctor will prescribe a medication called a “scabicide”. It comes in a lotion or cream form, and is only available by prescription.
Your doctor may recommend a second treatment with a scabicide 1 to 2 weeks later, to make sure the mites are gone. Your skin should heal once the mites are treated.
- Prevention in your home
It’s a good idea to wash items an infected person touched in the days leading up to treatment. This includes clothing, bedding and so on. Wash them in very hot water and dry them in the dryer on high heat.
