How is osteoarthritis diagnosed?
To diagnose an osteoarthritis, your doctor may need a combination of the following factors:
- Your description of symptoms
- The location and pattern of pain
- Physical exam
- Blood tests
- Joint fluid analysis
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
During the physical exam, your doctor will closely examine your affected joint, checking for tenderness, swelling or redness, and for range of motion in the joint.
