CGM, Continuous Glucose Monitor shows the amount of glucose in the fluid inside your body. In a CGM, different devices collect the information with tiny sensors. It’s approved by FDA.
Your sugar levels are shown at 1-, 5-, 10-, or 15-minute intervals. A dangerously low or high preset level will trigger an alarm.
The information within helps manage your diabetes. It provides the patient with recommended insulin, exercise plan, daily meals and snacks, as well as correct types and doses of medications.
Moreover, CGM doesn’t replace traditional home monitors. Frequent daily blood sugar measuring is still necessary for a good diabetes management.
CGM is sometimes placed under the belly skin, or put and adhere to the back.
