Home Remedies for Mosquito Bites on Infants

Mosquito bites are inevitable due to hot summer and more and more outdoor activities. Most adults won’t think mosquito bites as big problems, but infants and toddlers can feel very uncomfortable with them. Don’t worry, here are some home remedies for your babies!


1. Lemon juice

Lemon contains natural anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties that make it useful in curing mosquito bites.

How to apply:

First cut a lemon into two pieces

Then rub the inside of one half of the lemon against the itchy skin

You can also rub the yellow bark of the lemon over the skin


2. Chopped garlic or onion

Garlic and onion are also very beneficial in reducing the swelling and itching caused by a mosquito bite. In addition, the strong smell of these super spices can help repel mosquitoes and other insects.

How to apply:

First mince one garlic or onion

Then directly apply the chopped garlic or onion to the affected skin

Wait for a few minutes

Then clean the skin with cold water


3. Baking powder

Baking soda can effectively eliminate itching caused by mosquito or insect bites. Baking soda is alkaline, so it helps to neutralize the pH of the skin, relieving the itchy and pain.

How to apply:

First, dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water

Next, dip a cloth in the liquid

Place the cloth over the mosquito bite for about 10 – 20 minutes.


4. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is an antiseptic that makes it a fantastic insect bite remover. It helps to reduce pain, itching and swelling.

How to apply:

First cut an aloe vera leaf

Then extract its gel

Don’t use the shell as it is poisonous and can cause itching

You can also use commercial aloe vera gel, which is available in beauty stores

Put the gel in the fridge for 10 minutes

Directly rub it on the affected skin

Wait for a few minutes

Then clean the skin with cold water


5. Salt

Salt has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, which can be a great home remedy for mosquito bites.

How to apply:

First, prepare a few drops of water and 1 teaspoon of table salt

Mix well and apply to the affected skin
