Home Remedies for Mastitis in Women

Mastitis is a breast infection problem affecting lactating women. Some symptoms of mastitis include swelling, inflammation, chest pain, redness, heat or pressure sensitivity on contact. Other symptoms include chills and fever. Here are several home remedies that can treat mastitis naturally. If the problem makes breastfeeding painful and persists for several weeks, ask your doctor immediately.


1. Massage

Massage may be one of the simplest and easiest home remedies for mastitis in women. This will help as well as unlock the milk congestion alleviating the swelling. You can massage your outer breast towards the nipple in small circles, putting more pressure on the affected area.

How to apply:

Prepare a massage oil of wheat germ and apricot oil mixed in equal amounts.

Gently massage your breast.

Chill a few leaves of cabbage in the fridge for half an hour.
