Home Remedies for Freckles

Freckles are small brown spots on your skin, often in areas that get sun exposure. In most cases, freckles are harmless. They are just one of the common skin problems but can affect your appearance. Before consulting the doctor or using creams or medications, you can try the following natural remedies:

1. Papaya

Many women use papaya to lighten and improve the skin complexion. Indeed, papaya enzyme contains papain, which can exfoliate your skin, produce new skin cells, remove freckles, dark spots, and make the skin look fresher. You can apply papaya pulp to your affected area for 10 minutes before you wash off with water. Or you make some papaya juice and then apply it on freckles for 15 minutes before rinsing with water.

2. Licorice root

Licorice root contains glabridin, which is a tyrosinase to inhibit pigment to produce melanin. Additionally, licorice can become a useful whitening agent. You can mix 1/2 teaspoon of licorice extract and 4 teaspoons of jojoba oil and then apply the mixture to the affected skin for 30-40 minutes before rinsing off with water. You can do it every day to get faster effect.

3. Lemon juice

Lemon is a useful fruit for your health, your skin, hair and nails. To treat freckles, you can apply some lime juice on freckles and massage the skin gently, then wait for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Another way is to add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to slices of lemon and then scrub the lemon on your affected skin for a few minutes before washing with fresh water.

4. Sour cream

Sour cream contains lactic acid, which helps to get rid of freckles. This ingredient is especially useful for sensitive skin. You can simply apply it to the affected area, let it dry for a few minutes before rinsing off with water. Alternatively, you can also use sour milk to rinse your skin daily. If you do not have sour milk, you can use yogurt instead.

5. Honey

To get rid of freckles and brown spots, honey is an excellent ingredient because it contains enzymes that can lighten your skin. Honey can also moisturize your skin. You can mix water and honey and apply it to the affected skin for a few minutes before rinsing off with water. Alternatively, you can mix warm honey with wheat germ, apply the mixture for 10 minutes and then rinse with water. You can do this every day to get the best results.
