Home Remedies for Food Poisoning

Do you love roadside snacks? Or do you travel frequently and try new foods? Have you ever had severe stomach pain and diarrhea within days of eating these foods? When you say, “Yes!” You are likely to suffer from food poisoning caused by these deceptively harmless-looking contaminated foods. When your symptoms are not that serious, some home remedies can treat you quickly.

1. Honey

Honey has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that help to treat indigestion and other food poisoning symptoms. Honey also helps you control the formation of excessive acid in the stomach. You can add three teaspoons of honey to tea as a natural remedy. It will soon make you relax.

2. Herbal tea

Several types of herbal teas, such as ginger tea, chamomile tea, green tea, lemon tea and peppermint tea, can help you treat food poisoning, soothe your stomach, avoid stomach cramps and keep your body well hydrated.

3. Cumin

Cumin seeds or jeera seeds are excellent home remedies to cure inflammation in the stomach caused by food poisoning. They can reduce the tenderness and help treat it. Just a tablespoon of cumin seeds in the water can relieve your symptoms. You can also add salt, asafoetida and cumin seeds to make a glass of herbal tea.

4. Banana

Banana is rich in potassium and can help you reduce the various symptoms of food poisoning. Because bananas are very soft, they won’t give your stomach any pressure. You can either eat bananas directly or make a banana shake.

5. Lemon

Lemon is a great antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory food and can kill most of the bacteria causing food poisoning. Since lemon is very sour, you can take a teaspoon of lemon juice with a little sugar for two to three times a day. To cleanse your digestive system, you can add lemon juice to a glass of warm water or even add lemon to your tea and drink.
