Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

Your underarms should naturally be about the same shade as the rest of your skin. But sometimes, the skin in the armpits can turn a darker hue. Dark underarms usually aren’t a sign of anything serious, but some people may find them embarrassing. Here are some simple and safe home remedies to help you deal with dark underarms.


1. Lemon

Lemon can work as a natural remedy for various skin issues including dark underarms because of its strong antibacterial and antiseptic agent. You can rub a slice of lemon on the areas for a few minutes. Then, wait for 10 minutes before washing it away.


2. Potatoes

The mild acidity in potatoes could be used as a natural bleach. Unlike strong bleach, potatoes will not cause skin irritation. You can just rub a thin slice of potato on the armpit. Or you can take some potato juice and apply it to your affected area. Wait 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.


3. Cucumbers

Cucumbers also have natural bleaching properties and can lighten your skin. Mix 2 tablespoons of water with 1 tbsp of pressed cucumber and turmeric powder, adding lemon juice (if you want). Apply this mixture on armpits for about 30 minutes, then wash your armpit skin with lukewarm water.


4. Baking soda

When it comes to home remedies for dark armpits, baking soda is a great choice. It can help you remove dead skin cells and get rid of dark underarms. Mix the baking soda with water to create a thick paste. Scrub the armpits with the paste and then wash them with lukewarm water. Be sure to dry this area thoroughly. Take this method several times a week.


5. Orange Peel

Orange peels can be used to lighten your skin, thanks to the exfoliating and lightening properties. You can put a few orange peels in the sun for several days until they dry out completely. Then grind the dried peels into powder. Mix 2 teaspoons of orange peel with rose water and add milk to make a thick paste. Scrub the paste in your armpits, wait 15 minutes or so. wash the areas with cold water. Do this several times a week.
