Home Remedies for Chapped Lips

Chapped or dry lips are one of the most common problems that can make people feel painful and look less attractive. 1. Avoid sour, spicy, salty, foods

If your lips are cracked, they will be more sensitive than normal, and certain foods may irritate them. You should say “no” to sour, spicy, or salty foods for as long as your lips are still dry, cracked, and painful. Specifically, you should stay away from orange juice, barbecue sauce, mustard, pepper and alcoholic drinks to give your lips a break.


2. Avoid alcohol

You should not use petroleum products or any balm, gel and lipstick that contain alcohol because it will worsen your chapped lips and make it even more painful and dry. You should only use some natural remedies. A big rule that you should remember is putting only edible ingredients on the lips (this rule also works well for all other personal care products because the skin quickly absorbs the ingredients of lotions and creams, good and bad). In other words, if you cannot eat it – do not use it either on the skin or the lips.


3. Eat duck or goose fat

Duck or goose fat are actually perfect natural remedies for chapped lips, so the next time you cook a dish made from goose or duck, do not throw away the fat, but keep it in the fridge as a traditional treatment to use. If you have no goose or duck fat, you can also make use of shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil because they can also work great for your condition.


4. Milk Cream

The high fat content of the milk cream makes it a natural moisturizer for the lips. You can apply fresh milk cream on your lips and leave it for 10 minutes before washing it. Use a cotton ball dipped in warm water to rinse the cream from the lips. This is one of the best natural remedies for chapped lips. You can apply this method every day, whether you suffer from chapped lips or not.


5. Honey

Honey is a wonderful moisturizer that can help heal chapped lips, and it also has antibacterial properties. To soothe the chapped lips, you just have to apply pure honey on the lips all day many times if you feel your lips dry. You can also create a special paste of glycerine and honey and apply before bedtime to get soft lips in the morning.
