Home Remedies for Calluses on the Feet and Hands

A callus is a single-disc skin surface that has become hard and thick due to repeated pressure, friction or other irritation. Calluses usually develop on the feet, especially on the underside of the big toes or on the bottoms of the feet. Calluses can also occur on fingers, hands, or elsewhere of the body, where it repeats friction.

They usually cause no pain, but feel less sensitive and more uneven than other areas of the skin touching each other. However, a callus can lead to discomfort when there is some sort of pressure applied to its skin area. While this skin problem is not dangerous in general, if it is not cured on time, patients might experience other problems, such as skin infection or ulcers and cause swelling, pain and even tenderness. In fact, there are many simple but effective home remedies for calluses on the hands and feet.
