Generally speaking, both grief counseling and grief therapy help the client address emotional, mental, or behavioral issues and solve problems, but they are not the same.
The difference between grief counseling and grief therapy is slight. Grief counseling is more likely to focus on assisting clients who are coping with everyday stressors and looking for ways to deal with normal problems. It is frequently used especially when clients lose a loved one.
However, grief therapy usually describes sessions in which clients are battling more difficult or more chronic problems due to issues outside of the normal range of responses for grief.
