Gastritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach. There are two kinds of gastritis: acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. The acute gastritis may occur suddenly while the chronic gastritis may develop slowly over time.

Pain in the upper abdomen is the main symptom of gastritis. Usually, the pain is in the upper central portion of the abdomen. But sometimes the pain is in the upper left portion of the abdomen around to the back.

How long does gastritis last?

There are two kinds of gastritis: acute gastritis and chronic gastritis.

The acute gastritis may last for 2-12 days.

The chronic gastritis may last several weeks. And if not treated immediately it may last for several years.
