Can myelofibrosis lead to anemia?
Myelofibrosis is a myeloproliferative neoplasm. If one gets myelofibrosis, an abnormal copy of blood-producing stem cells will spread in his bone marrow, and the scar tissue replaces the morrow. Myelofibrosis results from mutations in a certain gene. People with myelofibrosis may have symptoms like fatigue, bone pain, bruising and bleeding easily, and getting infected easily.
Anemia is common in people with myelofibrosis. Since the blood-producing stem cells are affected, people with the disease can’t get adequate blood supply.
