Any Suggestions for Oral Hypoglycemic Drugs?

Q:
Any suggestions for oral hypoglycemic drugs?

A:
Oral hypoglycemic drugs are only used in the fight for type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a disorder involving resistance to secreted insulin, however, type 1 diabetes involves the lack of insulin and requires insulin for treatment.

I’ll introduce four kinds of hypoglycemic drugs for you:

  • Sulfonylureas
  • Thiazolidinediones
  • Metformin
  • Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors

Attention:
Drugs introduced above are approved for use only in patients with type 2 diabetes, patients who haven’t responded to diet, exercise and weight reduction. They can not be used for pregnant women with diabetes.

Find more details from relevant experts or doctors if needed.
