Antibiotics: can it cure appendicitis?
Antibiotics can be used to treat the mild appendicitis. But it is not the only treatment for the disease.
According to the study, antibiotics may be effective in certain cases of non-ruptured appendicitis. Besides, using antibiotics as the primary treatment for mild appendicitis cannot cause more complications in the first twelve months of follow-up. Therefore, using antibiotics is an effective option for some cases of appendicitis.
But, antibiotics cannot cure all appendicitis. If the inflamed appendix bursts or perforates, immediate surgery is needed to remove it.
